Something More for HR to Consider?
So I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep when I had some thoughts about the future of organisations, in particular, the role that HR will play in organisations. The two big themes that I was mulling over were:
- Societies around the world are becoming more unequal. The rich are getting richer and the poor, poorer. Assuming that this trend continues for the foreseeable future:
Has HR thought about this means for their organisations?
Is HR equipped to deal with this increasing economic and social inequality amongst the workforce?
Will increased inequality lead to a surge / resurgence in unionisation and collective bargaining?
- Forget Gen Y, when thinking about organisations in the developed world, the demographics indicate that the workforce will be getting older, not younger.
Are organisations ready for that?
Have organisations considered the implications?
I would be keen to hear your thoughts. Mail me on email@example.com.
